Mike Renna has been thrilling audiences for over ten years. As an accomplished piano player and singer, drawing easy comparisons to legends like Billy Joel and Elton John, Mike’s charismatic brand of entertainment is a major stand-out among the massive numbers of musical acts working today.
Mike studied music at the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, a significant distinction among professional musicians, revered for its highly selective admissions and the exceptional performers it produces. The alumni list is long and distinguished including musical greats like Quincy Jones, Steve Vai, Branford Marsalis, Melissa Etheridge and many, many more. The school offered Mike the ability to learn from the best, often attending master classes given by some of the top artists in the industry. The end result is a performer with not only mastery of his instruments, but an uncommonly engaging style. During his tenure in Boston, Mike continued to refine his skills on stages throughout the northeast, performing an unbelievable 600+ gigs in three years. His experience runs the gamut of venues, from original rock shows, club gigs, studio recording, and elite private functions. During this time, The Mike Renna Band spent several years as the house band at Boston’s Dick’s Last Resort, performing six shows a week and helping guide the night spot to record revenues. Mike was a well-known fixture in the historic city’s nightlife, receiving regular recognition in the Boston Globe and Improper Bostonian. Additionally Mike was a regular solo performer at Boston’s historical Durgan Park, entertaining audiences with his incredible piano playing and stunning voice. Upon his return to Atlanta, Mike’s hometown, Mike reformed the Mike Renna Band selecting some of the most talented musicians in the Atlanta scene, whose experience and skills mirrored his own, including Donovan Lara on drums, Mark D on guitar and newest member Chris Price on bass. |
